Professional Background
Dr. Lichten is an American Board of Plastic Surgery board-certified plastic surgeon who is also a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. Additionally, he is the former President of the Columbus Society of Plastic Surgeons.
On top of his certifications, professional memberships, and achievements in the medical field, Dr. Lichten is a marathon runner and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Psoriasis Foundation. He also plays the piano and loves boating and travelling with his family.

Education & Training
After graduating from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, Dr. Lichten completed a residency in general surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center in New York and a residency in plastic surgery at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. Dr. Lichten founded Central Ohio Plastic Surgery in 2005.

I had breast augmentation with a lift 8 days ago. Every time I move my left arm either to pull or push, it feels like the implant is moving underneath the muscle. Is that normal?

Yes this is a normal sensation 8 days after surgery. In general you should limit pushing and pulling as per your surgeon’s instructions. Also, for any postoperative concerns you should always start by calling your physician’s office.

As you know, with pregnancy and childbirth there can be changes to your breasts and body. While you may have changes to your breasts if you have another child, when I have patients who describe their desire for a breast reduction the way you do, they don’t need to wait. Taking good care of your overall health is the best thing you can do. I don't think there is a consensus on the "best" skin care to use on your skin in advance of having plastic surgery. One of the best things you can do to protect your skin is limiting UV damage through the use of broad spectrum sunscreen daily and reapply every hour to hour and a half when in the sun. While this isn't specific for your breast reduction, it is valuable to note when talking about skin health.

Breast reduction is a common procedure that I perform. Through incisions placed around the nipple, the lower portion of the breast and in the breast fold, I can reshape and reposition the breast tissue to help alleviate back, neck and shoulder pain, grooving in the shoulders from bra straps, and irritation and rashes in the breast folds. There are specific requirements that most insurance companies need to have satisfied before covering breast reduction, so you should check with your plan to see whether this maybe covered. You could likely have the tummy tuck at the same time, but check with your plastic surgeon for their specific requirements and opinion.
