BRCA1 Gene and Breast Augmentation

I’ve been wanting to get breast augmentation for a while now, however, I just found out I have the BRCA1 Gene. My question is, is it bad to get one because I have the gene?

Life is about living... and having the BRCA1 gene is not a contraindication but many of those patients would opt for a prophylactic mastectomy with implant reconstruction that would be covered by most insurance plans. However if you prefer not to do that, an augmentation can certainly be done but it will require that you are diligent with your self exams and annual mammograms so that if you do develop a cancer, it can be detected and treated early.

Breast implants removal and breast lift scars

I have 325cc implants for five years and now I would like to remove them. In order to have a breast lift performed at the same time, is there a new technique or procedure replacing the cuts around the nipple, and reverse T on the breast?

What you ask about can certainly be done but perhaps you may not need a lift at all, especially if you are not wanting any scarring around the areola as ALL lifts have a scar. If you're minimally droopy and accepting of the risks, your breast tissue could be suspended upwards to help 'lift' you without new scarring but durability cannot be predicted. Implant removal is a certainty and whether your capsule is removed or your muscles repaired would be something your surgeon and you should discuss during your consultation. And if it isn't, you should find another surgeon.

Timing of revisions usually is beyond 3 months from any procedure but regardless, at this point you remain dissatisfied. Things that I would require of my patients who find themselves in similar situations and on whom I am considering a revision: 1) the concerns must be obvious to anyone looking at the results as I will not do a revision to change something by a mm 2) there must be adequate healing since the last procedure to produce the best environment (tissue quality) to do the revision 3) I have to know in my heart that a revision will make things closer to what my patient is hoping for. If you were asking me to do a revision for you on someone else's work, you would have to clearly explain why you chose to see someone else for your first revision as it would be very important in deciding if I would accept you as a patient.

Breast implants

Hi, I had breast implants 545cc over the muscle, but my left side is rippling, so I'd like to revise to 350-400cc under the muscle without a breast lift. Would my breast still be sagging? My height is 5ft and my weight is 48kg. Many thanks

It really depends on what your tissue is like so its impossible to predict without an exam. Downsizing will not resolve your rippling and when going under the muscle, your lower half of the implant is still only covered by breast tissue (no muscle). Changing your implant style to a textured anatomic implant may be the best bet to help with your rippling , but again, no guarantees. Best to discuss your options with surgeon.
