Uneven breasts after weight gain
I had a breast augmentation about eight years ago. In the past few years, I have gained about 42 pounds. I am in the process of losing it. However, one breast now seems larger than the other one. My question is, will they both even out after I have lost all the weight I have gained?
Thanks for your question. If you were symmetrical prior to your augmentation, the likelihood is that you will get close to your original size once you lose your weight. If there is an appreciable asymmetry afterward the options are to change implant sizes, or perhaps reduce the larger side. A lot goes into deciding the best option. Best of Luck!
If your breasts were relatively even after your augmentation procedure, then when you get back to your post augmentation weight, they will likely be even again. If not, then discuss your concerns with your surgeon.
Hi, unfortunately there is no guarantee that your breasts will evenly lose the excess that occurred with weight gain. Our breasts are a combination of the skin envelope (that stretches and recoils differently), fatty tissue (difficult to target fat loss), and breast tissue (atrophies unpredictably), which contributes to the differences throughout life. When your weight is stable, have a consultation with an ABPS certified PS and they will guide you whether you would benefit from a lift, reduction, an implant, etc. depending upon your goals. Good luck!
Unfortunately often after weight loss breasts stay uneven. Once you are done with the process, if you're like most patients, you might want to consider a mastopexy.
