It is unfortunate that you had this trauma. Right now, it is too soon for you to evaluate your surgical results. You are doing the correct thing by asking questions but your treating surgeon would have the best answers for you. Explain your concerns to your doctor. It does take time to heal.

It is too soon to determine if what you see will be an undesirable, lasting result. You should discuss this with your surgeon. Hopefully, your surgeon can show you pictures of the "healing process" of other patients that underwent a similar procedure. This may help you understand the healing process better.

Is Restylane use safe in the tear troughs? I have been considering this procedure for some time for chronic dark circles under my eyes but I know it is considered an "off label" use of Restylane. Is it really safe and effective?

Restylane has been used successfully for this situation. Other HA fillers may be better options. A great deal depends on the experience of your treating doctor and your exact clinical situation. Dark circles may be due to other causes than a contour deformity. It is best that you speak with an ASAPS member to address your concerns who has experience with treating "dark circles" in the lower eyelid region so that you understand all of your options.
