Post Tagus incision appears unnatural
I had a facelift 2 months ago and my PS did a post tragus incision. It is flat and tight on one side. He has injected steroids and tells me to press it inward and it will reshape which does not seem normal to me. Is there any way to achieve natural tragus look or thin the skin it out to reshape the area? I am happy with my neck but don't understand why he took this approach on my ears and I am worried they will never look normal again.
The post tragal incision can be fraught with issues of a final unnatural appearance. It would be wise to give the total healing time a year then re-evaluate. Revision may be possible.
Best Wishes.
Hello - I routinely perform a post-tragus incision and have good success with the contour of the tragus. By now the impact of steroid injections, which are effective should be evident. If you are still unhappy with the appearance of your tragus, you should discuss this with your surgeon. There are revision procedures that can be performed to improve the appearance of the tragus. Remember, when you move skin that is thicker = the cheek skin backwards, it can mask the shape of the tragus. A revision procedure may be able to thin out the skin and give you a better tragal contour.
It may take as long as 6 months to a year to see the final result from your surgery. Please be patient. Yes, minor revisional surgery can be done is necessary. Best,
