Exams/study time after nose surgery
I am a 20 years old guy living in Albania, who's planning to have nose surgery on December 23. About one month later I need to study hard for my exams (requiring spending some hours on books and computer). Will there be any problem, any pain, or is studying a good staying position?
Second thing: what physical activities can I do and when? I play soccer. As I can understand that I should not play for some time, when can I start running at least to keep my body in shape?
ps: also I wear glasses
Thanks in advance!
Thanks for your question. Your surgeon will have some particulars for you, in other words...DO's and DON'TS " after your surgery. Check with him/her, because after all, that is your doctor and I'm not. In general I have my patients resume their favorite exercise within a few days after surgery BUT WITH ONE EXCEPTION.... Start at 10% of the usual time doing the exercise and 10% of the usual intensity. Double that every 3 days and you will be back up to speed in no-time. But back to my original advice. Your doctor is running the show here so his/her orders reign supreme over any advice you get along the way. Good luck and I'm am sure you will feel much better with your new look.
Before answering I do have to qualify that my answers are my guidelines for a typical septo-rhinoplasty procedure and without knowing specifics about your nose and proposed surgery, I cannot give you specific answers regarding your recovery experience. It would not be atypical for an individual to get back to most routine activities that are not physically demanding within a few days to a week. I have my patients refrain from any activity that may raise there blood pressure or heart rate or cause them to perspire for a full 3 weeks. I also ask them not participate in contact sports for 6-8 weeks. So based on those guidelines and assuming your surgery is not extraordinary, then you should be able to study fairly soon after your surgery and you should be able to start running 3 weeks after. I would stay away from soccer for 2 months. It is always best to consult with your surgeon for a more definitive answer. Good Luck.
Rhinoplasty can involve any of about 30 different steps depending on the nature of your problem and the preferences of your surgeon. Some will require a couple of days to recover, some over 6 weeks. You need to discuss these questions with your surgeon who knows the particulars of your planned procedure.
