Breast implants and child birth
I had breast implants 2 years ago. I just recently had a baby and only breastfed for a month due to her being lactose intolerant. Ever since then, my implant feels weird. Sometimes it almost feels like it's floating and it just is uncomfortable. Other times if I move weird, it feels like it's ripping. What can I do about this? I'm stationed in Guam with no resources out here to ask.
Agree with Dr. Hendricks. I too thank you for your service.
Thank you for your question. Pregnancy and breast feeding can change the shape of the breasts. The hormonal changes play a big role on how the breasts will look and feel afterwards. The skin can stretch out and lose elasticity causing the implants to lose their foundation. This can cause them to float. It is important to have an evaluation with your doctor or another qualified plastic surgeon regarding the discomfort. You may need to have the implants changed. Only an evaluation will determine this for sure! Good luck!
There is usually a simple answer to everything. However, your question does not have a simple answer without having additional information such as knowing a little bit more about your history, your current symptoms and how the breast appears and how it feels with an examination. If you have fever, extreme swelling or constant pain, it becomes more urgent to seek health care right away. If there is no fever, extreme swelling or constant pain then the situation becomes less immediate. First I would suggest that you contact the doctor that did your implant surgery to begin with. He/She will have a better idea about how to proceed. If that doesn't work, seek the advice or the medic or physician stationed at your base [I'm assuming you are with the military]. At least let them know you have concerns and they may be able to help put your mind at ease until your tour is done and you can get back home. Until then take care and know that you are appreciated for what you do.Thank you!
