Is it possible to get rhinoplasty after septoplasty?
Several years ago I had my deviated septum fixed. It is possible to now get a nose job? I have heard they use your septum to do the nose job, but since having deviated septum surgery, haven't they already removed my septum?
Having a rhinoplasty performed after a previous septoplasty should not be a problem for you. In some rhinoplasties (not all), cartilage grafts are used to help the structure and shape of the nose. Often these grafts are taken from the septum if needed. A previous septoplasty may prevent harvesting additional cartilage from the septum since much of it may have been removed during the septoplasty. If that is the case, ear cartilage can often be used as an alternate source. Equally important is making sure that enough septal cartilage has been left behind to provide adequate structural support to the nose if there is a "hump" on the nose that needs to be removed. Normally, this is not a problem but warrants a thorough preoperative evaluation by a surgeon experienced in rhinoplasty.
Seek the consultation of a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. They have a website listing all the certified plastic surgeons. Members of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery will all be board certified in plastic surgery and have demonstrated an interest and competence in cosmetic plastic surgery as well.
It is certainly possible to have a rhinoplasty after a prior septoplasty. If cartilage grafts are necessary, they may come from residual septal cartilage (depending on what what done at the initial septoplasty) or from another source like the ear.
I would suggest you find a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) who has extensive experience in performing nasal surgery that you trust and are comfortable with. You should discuss your concerns with that surgeon in person.

Rhinoplasty after a prior septoplasty is certainly an opton. If cartilage grafts are necessary, they can be harvested from residual septal cartilage or from another source like the ear or rib. A plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) will be able to help you understand all your options. Make sure to try and obtain your old operative records for your surgeon to review.
Rhinoplasty After Septoplasty - It’s not uncommon to have a Rhinoplasty after having had a functional Septoplasty done. This can be more challenging if septo cartilage is needed to reconstruct the nasal tip or dorsum. This should be done in the hands of a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon or Otolaryngologist with expertise in Rhinoplasty.
