In the UK, Laser treatment is utilized for under eye bags. Why not in the US?
I have been trying to find a minimally invasive procedure to remove under eye bags. When I search for this procedure it is always in the UK. When will the less invasive laser treatments to eradicate under eye bags be approved here in the US? The results seem amazing and the testimonials are all praises for the great outcome. I don't want surgery, if I can help it.
This procedure has been performed in the US for many years depending on your definition of "less invasive." Using a laser to tighten the skin does not require any incision but does require a recovery time and is not always the best solution. A laser can be used to melt fat but this may not be as precise as doing a minimally invasive procedure. I use a laser for all of my blepharoplasty procedures, using the laser beam instead of a knife or scissors. So, the best thing to do is call some offices where you live and schedule some consultations. You should be pleasantly surprised by what you learn about treatment options here in the United States.
I have been doing laser treatment for the lower eyelid area for almost 20 years so it isn't a new procedure and is widely used in the U.S. What has changed over that time is a more sophisticated understanding of the causes of under eye bags and new options to treat them based on the specific issue for each patient. Sometimes laser works well, sometimes noninvasive technologies such as focused ultrasound or radiofrequency, sometimes fillers or fat grafting, sometimes fat pad removal or repositioning, sometimes a combination. The best approach is to see a qualified ASAPS member who can evaluate your condition and offer the best treatment based on that, rather than deciding on the procedure based on online reviews.
