Implant Removal & Lift?
I had saline breast implants 500ccs, over the muscle at age 23. I am 40 now and want them removed. I needed a lift back then but was afraid to do it so the doctor suggested big implants. I recently lost a lot of weight & I can see rippling. I am terrified that these have been in me too long. Can you give me an idea of how much it would cost? I live in Orange County, CA. Can I use my back pain as a reason to have insurance cover remove them?
Although you may experience back discomfort from heavier breasts, the symptom is a result of prior cosmetic enhancement of the breasts and removal is generally not covered by insurers like a breast reduction would be. The risks and costs can only be discussed after you are seen in consultation.
Do what you want. If you are tired of implants consider just having then removed. Allow your body to recover. Then, address any breast ptosis or sagging with a mastopexy or breast lift at a later date. This could be a safer option with large subglandular implants. Costs vary by region of the country. You might want to consider a second option with an ASAPS member in your area.
