Should it take this long to heal?
Asked 2014-08-22
I had liposuction of the abdomen about 3 months ago and the area around my navel is still hard. It feels like the tissue has hardened. I have had a follow up visit with my surgeon who said this is normal and can take "a while" to loosen completely. He recommends I keep massaging the area until it softens. Is this normal?

Procedure(s)
Hardness of the subcutaneous tissues after Liposuction is common. Sometimes it can take several months for this hardness to resolve completely. Massage & Manipulation often makes these areas soften more rapidly. From a purely scientific standpoint maximum healing is normally considered to occur at 45 to 60 days from surgery.
