Losing Weight after a Reduction
I am having breast reduction surgery next week, I had twins 8 months ago and still have 25-30 pounds of baby weight I am determined to get off after my surgery. Will I go down even more in breast size? I should mention at my thinnest, I was still very chesty.
I always recommend to my patients, that they be at the weight they want to be before undergoing a surgical procedure. If you plan on losing 25-30 pounds this will influence the results of your surgery. You breasts may get slightly smaller in size and you may lose some firmness if you lose that much weight following surgery. Discuss your goals with your surgeon.
Losing weight after a reduction will impact your size depending on how much weight you lose and where the weight comes off of you. Ideally, if you wished to have the most durable outcomes, you would be at your weight you plan to maintain with your normal activities and diet. Regardless, you will be smaller and perkier so that is something you can take to the bank.
Thank you for asking. This is hard to say for sure in a forum like this. Many patients will have stable breasts but a significant weight loss could cause the breast to change too. See your board certified plastic surgeon in person. Best wishes.
