Tummy Tuck on Cesarean Section
I'm 31, had my Cesarean Section 7 years ago. Now it's starting to hurt, and below my belly button I can feel a round mass: it's really painful. I want to have a tummy tuck but I'm concerned because of the mass I feel. If I have a tummy tuck will the mass get rid of itself too? Thank you.
Thank you for the question. Unfortunately, we cannot tell you what the mass is without examining you. It may just be scar tissue or it could be a hernia. In either case, it can usually be easily taken care of at the time of your tummy tuck. The best thing to do is to be evaluated by a Board
Certified Plastic Surgeon.
Good Luck!
The mass should be treatable. It is most likely a hernia, a bulge, or some scar tissue. An exam by a board certified plastic surgeon may be able to determine what is going on. Some imaging with an ultrasound or a CT scan may be needed.
An Ultrasound of abdomen, pelvis and abdominal wall is necessary in the beginning to identify and clarify the mentioned painful "mass". If nothing internally, then a tummy tuck (mini or full, based on the skin excess) certainly will help you get rid of it, as it will be part of the tissues excised. I hope this was helpful enough. Thank you
If you have a mass of your abdominal wall this needs to be evaluated first. If medical-surgical treatment is necessary then this may preclude you from having a tummy tuck. Please seek evaluation first by either your OB-GYN or primary care physician.
Best wishes
You will require an examination and possible testing to determine the etiology of the mass you are describing. Plastic Surgeons can commonly find hernia's at the time of Abdominoplasty which are usually easily repaired. Consider an evaluation with a member of the ASAPS in your region who commonly performs Tummy Tucks. Best,
