November is coming to an end and the Thanksgiving holiday is upon us. It's time to reflect and recognize all that we are thankful for in our lives. All my life I have been blessed and I have so much to be grateful for the opportunity I've been given to serve the Society and specialty that I love. It's been an honor and one of the most important achievements of my career.
Seven months into my presidency, the spirit of "energy and team" is propelling us forward on the path of reimagination: adapting to a new aesthetic environment. Although we are in the early stages of reaching our goal of reestablishing The Aesthetic Society as the premiere leader in the aesthetic space, I am proud to report that the vitality of our team of dedicated volunteer leaders and staff have generated the momentum to accomplish our goals. We are building a strong foundation for all the pillars shaping our society: education, membership, and industry partnerships.
The "reimagined" education program is taking shape with several exciting webinars already scheduled, starting in January. All the educational content will be available through our newly developed digital platform, The Aesthetic Society Academy, catering to our global partners (GEMS series), all surgeons (Saturday Master Class series), and AlliedPro members (Blueprints series). They will provide both surgical and nonsurgical content to enhance learning.
In addition, we have two in-person meetings happening in 2025: Our annual meeting, reimagined and renamed The Aesthetic MEET, March 20-23, 2025 in Austin, TX, and plans are underway for our face and nonsurgical symposium in the fall of 2025. Be on the lookout and plan to join us at this exciting meeting. It is not too early to start planning for The Aesthetic Cruise 2026 which will take us to Iceland, Norway, Amsterdam, and the United Kingdom. Save the dates for July 23-August 2, 2026, you will not regret it.
THE AESTHETIC MEET REGISTRATION
With the fresh, reimagined, and more inclusive spirit comes a significant growth in our membership and global reach. During the last month, I have traveled to Brazil (SBCP), Miami(GAC), Kuwait (KSPS) and Montreal ((SAPS), spreading our new message and our desire for inclusiveness and collaboration. I am proud to report that applications for membership are at an all-time high. We have also achieved a new milestone: 35 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreements with global plastic surgery society partners - the most recent are Portugal, Kuwait, Russia, and Morocco. In addition, last month's announcement invited colleagues from Facial Plastic Surgery (AAFPRS), Oculoplastic Surgery (ASOPRS) and Dermatology (ASDS) to attend our annual meeting in Austin, TX which has been received with tremendous excitement and interest in attendance.
As you know, I have an intense passion for running and have set a personal goal to do a long run at each of the global meetings I attend, paying homage to each country and continuing to challenge my endurance. When colleagues and friends from industry join me, it strengthens our communities and creates lasting relationships. These are some of my favorite moments.
I continue to encourage the themes of energy and team and the efforts of all our volunteer leaders has created such positive momentum. Please join our team and propel this movement forward with your supportive and talented spirit. Stay strong and healthy my friends, together we are stronger and I am grateful for all of you.
Your friend and President,
Kiya Movassaghi, MD, DMD, FACS
