Affiliated Specialty members will be physicians of high moral, professional and ethical standing who have evidenced attainment in the field of aesthetic surgery or medicine. Applicants must be board-certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties, American Osteopathic Association, or Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in a specialty approved by the Society’s Board of Directors and practice within the scope of that specialty.
To be considered for election to Affiliated Specialty membership, a physician must be sponsored by two (2) Active or Life members of The Aesthetic Society. Qualifications must be reviewed and approved by the Application Review Committee and the Board of Directors, respectively. Affiliated Specialty members will enjoy all privileges of the Society except the right to vote and hold office. Affiliated Specialty members will pay dues to be determined annually by the Board of Directors.At this time, the Application Review Committee shall consider physicians with board certification in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery from any of the foregoing organizations AND require facial plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship training with Board Certification by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. Affiliated Specialty members must also attend a minimum of one in-person Aesthetic Society educational event every two (2) years.
Application Requirements
- Complete a questionnaire telling us about your plastic surgery training and history
- Complete a summary of your surgical cases from the last 12 months (no case minimum required to apply)
- Provide Two (2) sponsors that are Aesthetic Society Active or Life Members.
- Provide information on any malpractice cases, if any
- Provide verification of accreditation of any surgical facilities that are used
- Provide a listing of your websites and any social media platforms, including any print marketing
- Agree to abide by the Society’s Bylaws, Conflict of Interest Policy, and Code of Ethics
- Optional – Submit a personal statement, telling us about yourself and why you want to be an Active Member of The Aesthetic Society
Application deadlines are now quarterly: January 5, April 5, July 5, and October 5
Applicants who submit a complete application by the January 5 deadline are eligible for election just prior to The Aesthetic MEET in the spring. Individuals who submit their application for the July deadline are eligible for election to membership at the beginning of the year. A $250 application fee to cover administrative expenses associated with your application is required and you will be sent an invoice once you submit your application.
